Christmas Eve Eve and a Run on the River

We’re heading into the thick of the holiday goodness. I travelled all day yesterday and arrived to hang with my extended Memphis family. Dinner included Italian meatloaf sliced to reveal a section of hardboiled egg inside, mashed potatoes, endive salad with Maytag bleu cheese and pine nuts, glazed carrots, and nephew-made cinnamon rolls for dessert. The eating is going to be incredible these next few days.

I ran along the Mississippi River, which is huge and brown and careens along with whirlpools. The landscape is brown and bleak, just like the beautiful film Ballast, set just south of here. Memphis is on a bluff and looks across to Arkansas. It felt great to run in this old home state. As I ran I started an inventory of states where I’ve run.

Arizona

California

Florida

Idaho

Louisiana

Montana

North Carolina

Pennsylvania

Oregon

Tennessee

Washington

Countries – Canada, Mexico, France

Please add to this list with your own running inventory…
